the Think Local First Program in Longmont
This is a powerful campaign to strengthen
awareness of the benefits of shopping with independent locally owned
businesses in Longmont!
What is the objective of this campaign?
Our primary objective is to encourage Longmont
residents to Think Local First when they are considering where to
make purchases, to Buy Local whenever possible and to Be Local by
supporting businesses that make Longmont unique.
We want to increase market share to independent,
locally owned businesses by increasing awareness about the personal
and community benefits of choosing local.
Who is being targeted?
The target market is comprised of shoppers who want to keep communities
livable and to continue to buy the variety of products and services
offered by Longmont’s independent locally owned businesses.
What is the benefit to our audience?
Our research shows that the most compelling and motivating reasons
for shopping locally have generally focused on retaining the unique
and special character of Longmont; an Our Hometown USA identity
as opposed to becoming “any-town USA.” Research also
shows non-profits receive greater support from local businesses,
significantly more money will re-circulate within Longmont, and
locally owned businesses have deeper community roots.
Who is eligible to join?
Your business must be able to answer all of the following questions
with YES to be eligible for this program:
• Is your business privately held? (not publicly traded)?
• Do the business owners, totaling greater than 50% of the
